For twenty-six years The Stony Plain Cowboy Gathering Society has hosted the cowboy gathering. The event occurs every August and includes a plethora of activities to enjoy.
These activities include shows and wares by pickers, poets, artists, musicians, and much more. Past sponsors have been Topher Mills, Aaron Pritchett, Jennie Harluk, Olivia Rose, Bob Glidden, and many more. This festival is well known for its BBQ and live entertainment.
Aboriginal Day Celebration
This exciting annual community event happens every June and offers interesting things for people of all ages to enjoy. The celebration offers cultural learning, dancing, drumming, food, and drink and artisan crafts. Join the community at Stony Plain Heritage Park for the annual Aboriginal Day Celebrations.
Stony Plain, AB offers a local music festival that is popular with people all across Canada. The Blueberry Bluegrass Country Music Festival has been an electrifying attraction for over twenty-five years.
Many Grammy winners take part, including Joyce Smith and The Earls of Leicester. This festival runs through the last weekend of every July. There are also plenty of activities for children, as well as an abundance of food, drink and music.
Christmas in Town
Every year, in the historic downtown of Stony Plain, the Christmas Light Up has gotten residents into the Christmas spirit. The lighting of the holiday lights, along with caroling, food, drink, and the new Christmas Treat and Treasure Hunt, bring the community together.
This year’s treasure hunt and decorating contest allows locals to explore downtown businesses while collecting treats along the way. Santa is also visiting the Community Centre after the tree lighting.
Stony Plain’s community market is an especially popular draw for locals. The market includes such things as art, collectibles, antiques, artisan crafts and much more. This event is run by a local charity and local youth center. The Street Market is a much anticipated draw every year.
Farmer’s Days Exhibition and Rodeo
The town government and the Kinsmen Club host this annual event. This three-day happening has everything from midway and rodeo to a bounce zone for kids to a ‘Kiddie Korral.’ Farmer’s Days also hosts a large parade complete with a pancake breakfast, which is Blissful Balance RMT‘s favorite!
This event is a New Year’s event of sorts. It’s a ‘fun for the whole family’ occasion that bids farewell to one year and helps bring in the next. Join the fun at Heritage Park where food, entertainment, horse-drawn wagon rides, fireworks and much more are provided.
